Cyrus Patten Blended Value Organizations

Blended Value Organizations

One of those times

Nonprofits create social value. Including environmental, equity, community, and economic value.

Corporations create financial value. And sometimes more.

Throughout my career, I’ve found that people want to make sense of these two structurally different groups. But ultimately, both nonprofits and businesses are corporations that create value. My research and experience has proven overwhelmingly that the most successful enterprises create both financial and social value. Regardless of which tax code they are defined by.

While I struggled to find a professional home in one of the two sectors, I created a space for myself between them. Teaching businesses how to create value beyond just what shareholders expect (financial) – and teaching nonprofits how to operate entrepreneurially in order to create financial value for their staff, communities, and clients.

This is where I love to be: helping bridge the gap between these worlds. Get in touch if you think your team could benefit from this type of change leadership.
