I can count on one hand the number of moments in my life that noticeably altered the direction of it. Some time in 2013 I came across this talk by Dan Palotta on how we think about “charity” in this country.
As I had already spent a number of years leading nonprofits at that time, the message was particularly poignant.
This talk helped set me on a path, spending the next decade studying this issue, writing my doctoral dissertation on nonprofit social enterprise. I also built a vibrant consultancy helping nonprofits find their entrepreneurial spirit through a combination of leadership consulting and change management.
